Science Demonstration

As a science teacher, we should have knowledge from all branches of science. Also, we should be able to teach students all the branches of science effectively. By keeping this idea in mind, I have performed 3 demonstrations from three different branches of science: Physics, Chemistry, Biology for std 8th and 9th in school. I done it for higher classes because the concepts was littlebit difficult for lower standard to understand it.

1) PHYSICS  DEMONSTRATION
 "Sink Or Swim”

Conclusion of the experiment:
It may appear that one paper ball is floating on the water while the other ball sinks, but it isn’t entirely about density. Instead, what you are observing is a difference in the surface tension of the water. Soap is a compound that lowers the surface tension of a liquid. Soap, in particular, decreases the surface tension of water by weakening the hydrogen bonds that make water such a special substance. This lower surface tension has two direct effects when it comes to the paper ball. First, the lower surface tension means that the paper can’t sit atop the water’s surface, allowing more of the water to come in contact with more of the paper. Second, the weakened hydrogen bonds mean that the water is more likely to soak into the porous paper, making the paper much more dense and causing it to sink.

2) CHEMISTRY  DEMONSTRATION
 "Invisible Ink”

Conclusion of the experiment:
Lemon juice is an organic substance that oxidizes and turns brown when heated. Diluting the lemon juice in water makes it very hard to notice when you apply it the paper, no one will be aware of its presence until it is heated and the secret message is revealed. Other substances which work in the same way include orange juice, honey, milk, onion juice, vinegar and wine. Invisible ink can also be made using chemical reactions or by viewing certain liquids under ultraviolet (UV) light.

 3) BIOLOGY  DEMONSTRATION
 "Soil Profile”

Conclusion of the experiment:
The soil is found in layers, which are arranged during the formation of soil. These layers called horizons, the sequence of layers is the soil profile. The layers of soil can easily be observed by their color and size of particles. The main layers of the soil are topsoil, subsoil and the parent rock. Each layer has its own characteristics and I also explained the uses of it.
